K-Pop Superstars BTS performs for the first time on U.S TV at American Music awards 2017 as the first Asian band appearance. They were performing a song called “DNA”, the electronic lead single which was significantly successful followed by unceasing praise among the audience.

BTS, also known as Bangtan Boys, is a seven-member South Korean boy band. They debuted on June 12, 2013. As they continued their performance, their first appearance to the world started from the list of Forbes as the most retweeted artist on Twitter in March 2016. Their consistent success through billboard chart lead them to their first debut in America.

They won the Billboard Music Awards earlier this year and they were selected as top 100 Billboard chart first which is first among any K-Pop stars. They were also named at the Time magazine as one of the 25 most influential people on the internet, a list that also included the likes of J.K Rowling, Donald Trump.

They continued their dominance, leading up to Sunday Night’s awards show. BTS expressed their eagerness to take the stage in the U.S as quoted “We are so excited to be invited to the American Music Awards to perform on the stage for the first time”. They filmed appearances on episodes of Jimmy Kimmel Live! , The Late Late Show With James Corden, and The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

One of the shocking facts about BTS is that before coming to America, most of BTS members were not capable of speaking English fluently. Their leader, Rap Monster, was the only want speaking English and he revealed the story in the Ellen DeGeneres Show that he learned the language by watching the famous American TV show “Friends”. From the perspective of Korean and foreigner, it takes lots of courage to set a foot on the different country without having the full ability to speak their language and they are well respected as these aspects. We, as Korean fans, hope their well beings at performances in America and continues to bring success.
